Week and Weekend in Denim

Sorry for the huge gap in post, but I was whisked away on a last minute vacay to Cancun for my birthday *feeling really special right now*. So, here's what I've missed:

Blake Lively wore a cute pair of dark denim jeans during Fashion's Night Out.

Rihanna, her cutoffs, and her nips made an appearance in NYC. I just don't get where she's going with this ensemble.

Amber Rose also wore a weird cutoff ensemble for her Elle photoshoot. And BTW, she was styled by Kanye himself. Nope, I don't like it either...

Megan Fox out shopping in Toronto.

Jessica Alba wore her bleached jeans. I think she should've either worn the top or the jacket, but definitely not both of them together.

Nicky Hilton had on an interesting stone-washed denim dress. I don't like it, but I think that she still looks cute.

Week In Denim

Queen Latifah was spotted on the set of her new movie in NYC. Whether rocking a sporty look or a chic one, she always looks great.

Jessica Alba was spotted leaving lunch in LA. I love the color of these jeans! Take note: if you're going to wear brightly colored jeans, its usually best to pair with neutrals.

I love the wash of Amber Rose's jeans, but I'd like them even more if those awkward DIY-looking holes weren't in them.

Whitney Houston was spotted in a long denim trench and denim jeans at the airport. This is the worst kind of double denim. It doesn't look like she tried the trend on purpose.

Rihanna was spotted leaving lunch in NY yesterday. She's not making her usual super-fashionable appearance, but the fit of these jeans are on point! However, those pointy dagger-like nails are not...

Lisa Raye was spotted out with a DIY-looking hole too.

Rainy and Gray

With the coming of spring's warm weather, many like to shy away from denim jeans, especially the darker washes because they can make you look too hot (in a bad way, not the good way). Well fortunately for us, there is a great Spring-y alternative that still gives the clean look of darker denim - gray denim!

I LOVE gray denim because it is more versatile than most blue denim not only because it serves as a neutral, but because there are so many variances in hue. You can wear them with whatever color top and/or shoes (although pairing w/gray can looked washed out). Its like having several pairs of white or black jeans!

Ciara's all gray blase outfit was saved by her colorful Louis Vuitton sandals:

And for those of you who are expecting, you can get in on the trend too with these J&Company Beverly Rocks Thunder jeans:

Even Michael Jackson is getting in on this trend! LOL, nothing against Michael (I still love him), but I couldn't help myself when I saw this picture...

The Higher They Rise...

Now this picture is a couple of months old now, but I just had to address this...because it keeps haunting me. Not only is it sad that Jessica Simpson's stock has plummeted to the point where she is performing at venues such as the 24th annual Chili Cook Off at CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines Florida, but what's sadder is that her sense of style has plummeted with it. Awww, Jess!

Maybe she's unsure how to work with the extra weight she has gained, but apparently, she doesn't realize that high-rise denim serves to accentuate the waist, and she is actually making her hourglass frame appear heavier by layering on the cute double belt over her Jainesse Charlotte jeans . And no, it is NOT the jeans. The jeans are very cute. Just see for yourself. Jessica Alba, Kelis, and Nicole Scherzinger shows us how the style should should actually flatter you in their Jainesse jeans.

And before you think that I'm only endorsing this style for the thin, see how fuller-figured celeb Kim Kardashian pulls hers off:

It's not about your size, it's about your proportions. Proportion is EVERYTHING ladies!
