Weekend in Denim

*yawning and stretching* Wow, that 3-day weekend went by fast! Lets see what the celebs were doing in denim:

Halle wore her PRPS Boyfriend Jeans and a new short cropped cut sans makeup. She said that she'll be going without makeup now...not that she needs it.

Drew Barrymore had on a cool-looking pair of white checkered Levis.

Dakota Fanning was seen wearing her J Brand ripped skinnies. Now that little Dakota is a big girl, someone should get her a stylist because this outfit wasn't put together well at all.

Ciara was out at Keyshia Cole's concert trying to be incognito...but, we see you anyway.

Ashley Tisdale was spotted leaving her home in her Dylan George jeans.

Rihanna was out in NYC wearing her cut-off shorts and heat-stroke chic thigh-high flat Ciara boots. Boo.

And here she is in a more season-appropriate outfit. She loves her Current/Elliotts. And I'm loving this look! (minus the Road Runner hair of course)

Lindsay Lohan managed to find a cute version of the 80s style acid wash jeans from Jet. I swear this girl is getting thinner and thinner everytime I see her!

Her tee is a tad too long in the back, but Kate Moss is sporting a cute look (frontal view only) with her black denim cutoffs.

2009 Costume Institute Gala Benefit

Actors, artists, and fashion industry people were dressed to impress at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala on Monday for “The Model As Muse” exhibit.

Quite naturally, there were some that impressed, and some that depressed...

Here are looks I really liked:

Here is Eva Herzigova in Dolce & Gabbana and Chopart...loving those shoes!

Kate Moss looked very elegant in and with Marc Jacobs *doing my back exercises as I type*:

Kate Beckinsale looked very elegant as well. I love LOVE navy!

Iman NEVER disappoints:

Claudia Schiffer looked bad...in a good way. I do wish she would've done something more with her hair though:

Gisele Bundchen wore a cute sassy number:

Heidi Klum (who's on baby #4) looked absolutely radiant! Nobody wears pregnancy and post-pregnancy like Heidi!:

Of course, Victoria Beckham was there stylin' and profilin':

And my favorite look was Lily Donaldson. Her dress and shoes were ON POINT!:

And then, there are the looks, I didn't like at all:

Kirsten Dunst looked like an ol' lady:

I didn't like it when Beyonce did this sculpted dress, so I certainly don't feel Emma Roberts in it:

Mary-Kate and Ashley looked identically whack:

Leighton Meister...WTF were you thinking?!

And Madonna...ok, so when we say that some celebs can get away with "anything," we don't mean anything:

Then we had what looked like a casting call for a Bram Stoker film:

And here are some randoms that I wanted to throw in:

My girl, Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture:

Ciara in Emilio Pucci...I'm sure she's wearing some thigh-high boots under that gown:

Amber and Kanye are still hanging in there. She looks great...somebody got a tan, but um, Kanye? Where are your socks?

$1000 Jeans?!

How much is TOO much for a pair of jeans???

In an earlier blog, I discussed why you should consider paying $200 for a pair of premium denim (http://jeanotype.blogspot.com/2008/06/those-jeans-cost-how-much.html), but I'm finding it difficult to justify Christophe Decarin's Balmain denim line. These jeans run up to $2500 (see above picture of their new ripped style) and are SOLD OUT, yes SOLD OUT in London and in online boutiques! Who said anything about a recession?!

And of course, denim trendsetter, Kate Moss has hers:

What is the most you would pay for denim? And, what would justify spending outside of that price range?

ANLO Sale!!!

Rue La La, the exclusive, invitation-only online destination where Members discover premier-brand, private sale Boutiques, each open for just a brief window of time, is having a sale on Anlo jeans from March 20 11AM - March 23 11AM. The retail prices, which average at about $200/pair, are marked down to only $69!

These jeans are famous for their great trouser styles. Just be conscious of the rise...some can be pretty low. The higher-waisted ones are great if you have a little extra tummy.

See Kim Kardashian (trouser), Kate Moss (skinny leg), Adrienne Bailon (skinny leg), and Kate Winslet (straight leg) in their Anlo jeans:

If you need an invite, just make your request in the Comments section, and one will be sent to you.

If you dare to wear short shorts...

It seems that all of the celebs are breaking out their denim cutoffs in honor of Summer 08. And why not? They can be dressed up or down, worn to lunch or to the beach, and they are perfect for keeping as cool as possible for those 80+ degree days. If you've been priming your bod for these all winter long - we totally encourage them. HOWEVER, if you haven't quite gotten your body right to rock these fabulously, don't fret...you have an option.....LEGGINGS!

And just in case you thought you couldn't take these into the fall, fashion trendsetter, Kate Moss (who was hugely responsible for the popularity of the skinny jean) shows us how to do so:
